I'd actually be really surprised if that comment wasn't supposed to be "satire". Commenting shit like "Heil Hitler! Sig Heil!" while also spouting racially charged obscenities is something of a pastime for me... But there are a lot of stupid, mean people on the internets, so I'm probably wrong.

Sounds like Google acted in response to your email. I doubt they really did anything before they read it. As you saw on my post where you commented, there are lots of users on YouTube who are troubled by this kind of thing, but almost as many who cite nonsense like "freedom of speech" or "well don't read it then". What has to happen is Google need to act to prevent that kind of crap showing up on one of their main web properties. I suspect though that the active, noisy user community is something that Google would rather not interfere with, even if that means leaving the door open to neo-Nazis and other psychos.

Very interesting post... Youtube comments are the most fun part of the site (<a href="http://xkcd.com/202/" rel="nofollow">xkcd.com/202</a>) but this is clearly a grotesquely inappropriate use. Glad to see you are getting somewhere with this one.
